Aluminum hemispherical granules used in the steel industry as a deoxidizer. Steelmaking requires removal of dissolved oxygen from molten steel; aluminum and silicon are the most critical deoxidizing agents. Beyond deoxidation, aluminum increases toughness and controls grain size.
